Stocktaking Timber Packs When applying a stocktake, the question 'Does this stocktake include pack stock?' has the following implications:  If 'yes', the system will not allow the selection of a range of cards or products. The process will apply the stocktake to all products within the product group range, and all packs not listed on stock cards will be flagged as Used (they will not be converted to loose) and in pack maintenance they will be marked as "deleted by stocktake".  Regardless of the above flag the system will update stock for loose timber that is included in the stocktake range, however, in calculating SOH the system takes into account both stocks included in packs and loose sticks of timber. Thus the only way to do a partial stocktake for loose stock is to first do a complete stocktake for all pack stocks.  After doing this additional stock cards can be added to the pack cards to include loose stock (this can be applied in stages or as one stocktake). In subsequent stocktakes after the packs have been applied, 'Pack stock' should be answered as 'no', and the card range should include the pack cards as this data is required in the calculations when applying the counts.  Potential Discrepancies If you don't freeze your stock or the cost is changed after the freeze but before card entry then the Stock Take Completion Report will not be accurate. If the standard cost is changed after the stock card entry and before the stock take apply then the Stock Take Variation Report will be at the new cost.
