This section explains how to create and maintain Asset Types and Depreciation Rates. An Asset Type is a means of grouping like assets together and are maintained by company. Depreciation Rates are percentages for both diminishing value and prime cost depreciation methods. You need to have both of these tables set up in order to create and maintain assets. Refer to the following processes  for further information: Asset Types  To create and maintain Asset Types, perform the following: 1. From the  ProStix Main Menu , select ' General Ledger ' then ' Asset Register ', then ' Asset Table Maintenance' . 2. Select option ' Asset Types '.  3 . From the  'Select Company'  screen, select the required company.    4. The ' Asset Types ' screen lists the Asset Types that have previously been created. 5.  To add a new Asset Type , select <F6> (Add),  , then update the required fields .  Refer to the 'Asset Type fields' collapsible link for a screenshot and an explanation of these options. 6.  To change an Asset Type , highlight the record, then select <F7> (Change). Make the required changes, then select <F1>. 7.  To delete an Asset Type , highlight the record, then select <F5> (Delete).   Depreciation Rates  To create and maintain Depreciation Rates, perform the following: 1. From the  ProStix Main Menu , select ' General Ledger ' then ' Asset Register ', then ' Depreciation Rates' . 2. The ' Depreciation Rates ' screen lists codes and corresponding rates that have been previously defined. 3.  To add a new Depreciation Rate , select <F6> (Add), then update the required fields.  Refer to the 'Depreciation Rate fields' collapsible link for a screenshot and an explanation of these options. 4.  To change a Depreciation Rate , highlight the record, then select <F7> (Change). Make the  required changes, then select <F1>. 5.  To delete a  Depreciation Rate , highlight the record, then select <F5> (Delete).
