The extracted export file may be in the form of a .csv file (MS Excel) or .txt file (MS Word). For this exercise, Microsoft Excel is used to open the exported customer extract file. Files that are created in Excel are usually saved with an extension of .xls. However, it is possible to open files that have an extension of .csv in Excel because the file converters loaded with Microsoft Office give Excel the ability to recognise this format.  The following procedures are followed to create a mail-out to the extracted customers and then print address labels or envelopes to finalise the mail-out:
