This process explains how to dock one pack and create a multiple new packs that contain the end sections that have been cut from the existing pack. This facility does not move packs between branches, costs are not adjusted and therefore there is no stock adjustment or general ledger posts when packs are docked. There is therefore no adjustment to average cost by length as part of this process. To dock one pack and create a multiple new packs that contain the end sections that have been cut from the existing pack, perform the following: 1. From the ProStix Main Menu select ' Inventory Management ' then ' Stock Adjustment' then ' Pack Docking '. 2. Type the branch number that contains the pack to be split into the 'Which Branch' field. <F3> (Search) is available. 3. The 'Pack Docking' screen is displayed. Type the pack number that you are removing products from into the 'Pack Number' field. <F3> (Search) facility is available. Validation is performed to make sure that: 4. If the pack fails these criteria, then the operator gets an error message informing them that they must use Material Conversion for this type of pack. 5. The next screen lists the product that is contained in the existing pack and allows you to nominate the pack numbers and lengths of product that are to be put into the newly created packs. Refer to the 'Nominate Pack Numbers and Lengths' collapsible link for a screenshot and an explanation of these options: 6. When the packs created total length matches the pack used created length you are able to exit and update the pack and stock by length records. The original pack is set to a status of 'used'. For packs that were originally imported, the cost of the pack is length cost and the portion by volume of the original shipping costs applied to this pack.
