Computerised stock control requires certain disciplines to be in place to ensure the accuracy of the data and therefore its reliability in helping to answer certain queries. One indicator of a failure in disciplines is the level of negative stock holdings reflected at a branch. Negative stock on hand is a physical impossibility and therefore procedures should be in place to address these once they are highlighted. The first step in addressing this issue is the knowledge of its occurrence. When Daily 1. From the  'ProStix Main Menu'  select  'Inventory Management ' then  'Reporting'  then  'Product Listings'  then 'Product-Branch Listing'. 2. Leave the defaults in place with the following exceptions: Information Displayed Product Details, Branch Stocking details, Location, Date Last Sold, Date Last Stocktake & current SOH. Actions to Take Analyse the negatives and determine the causes. Fix via stock adjustment but only where both sides of the adjustment are known. Product A gets 1 added. Product B gets 1 subtracted. Always reverse a negative by the reversing the process which caused it...That is, do not merely stock-adjust everything back to zero.
