A minor extension of the after-imaging technique is to periodically copy collected AI data to a remote site. This could be as often as every fifteen minutes, or even more frequently. In this way, after-image data is available for recovery from backup should the DR site be required, thus requiring less rework and limited data loss.  A small enhancement to this is to continuously 'play' the after-image files onto a restored copy of the backup as they arrive at the disaster recovery site, thus ensuring that the DR database is a 'warm' backup – no more than, say, 15 minutes out of date.
