Overview:  The module provides an integrated system to control manufacturing activities and is based on the current Factory Works Order processing in ProStix. It provides for the tracking and costing of product from raw material through the various stages of production to finished stock.  Unlike Material Conversion, the system can record the stock used and then record the stock produced at a later time.  Unlike Production Scheduling, the system does not limit the user to following a rigidly predefined plan of manufacture.    System Description:   Work Stations The system is to maintain a series of work stations where product is transformed from one state to another. Work stations are analysed for costing and efficiency.  Costing The system is to maintain a costing profile for each manufactured product in order to establish the cost of the finished stock. Changes to cost factors are required to be made with minimum maintenance. The system is to maintain labour and overhead rates at each work station and allow for future dated changes to rates.  Stock Locations All pack stock is to be coded with a warehouse location in order to identify the status and ownership of the stock.  Factory Work Orders The system is required to generate and print a Factory Work Order before any work can commence. The work order is to itemise the product to be processed and the date required. A separate work order is required for each step of the manufacturing process.  Material Usage Material is to be allocated to each work order and recorded as it is transformed into a different product by the manufacturing process. The system is required to record the stock used, the stock produced, the time spent and the stock wastage. Stock can be in pack form, loose timber or each items. Stock can be used at a work station several days before the output stock is produced. Movements in stock are to be recorded in the general ledger stock accounts.  Time Allocations The elapsed time spent on each work order is to be recorded at each work station together with any down time. Down time is to have an associated reason code.  Reporting A report is required to analyse the efficiency of each work order; it records if the order was completed on time and at expected cost. A profit and loss report is required to analyse the performance of each work station and the division as a whole across a selected date. Analysis is made of actual time/costs compared to the current costing profile.  Glossary of Terms
