Why This option allows for Accounts Payable and General Ledger Period End Processing. The Month End procedure can be performed at different times for each company. It should be run when all transactions for a given period have been completed. The Period Close program simply changes the current period to the new period which, in turn, stops transactions being processed to the old period. This ensures that all management reports for old periods are valid and remain valid. The procedure also allows for the Standing Journals to be applied. When Monthly (normally around 15 th  of following month once all un-posted batches processed) How 1. From the  ProStix Main Menu  select 'General Ledger' then 'Period Close' Input 2.  The first screen prompts for the ranges to include in the report. Refer to the 'G/L New Period' collapsible link for a screenshot and an explanation of these options. 3. If there are any outstanding (un-posted) batches in the General Ledger system, you are required to go back and process them before you can proceed. 4. Once there are no un-posted batches, the next screen allows you to proceed with caution. That is, maybe you would like to view the batches that are included in the period close by printing the batches before you actually close the period. Refer to the 'Period Close' collapsible link for a screenshot and an explanation of these options. 5. The message    '. . . General Ledger Post is running please wait . . .'   appears on the bottom of the screen. 6. The program runs through and closes the current accounting period preventing any further transactions from being posted.
