| <span style="color: #003366">**QUESTION:**</span> | SYS: How do I set the unix date or time?  The ProStix server clock is out of sync or is wrong. |
| <span style="color: #003366">**ANSWER:**</span> | To change the date or time on a Unix or Linux server, perform the following:<br><span style="color: #333333">1. You will need root access to your server and will also need your root password also. Some ways to achieve this are as follows:</span><br>> Macro (legacy-content)<br><span style="color: #333333">2. At the unix # prompt as root, type the following 'date' command to set the date / time, </span><span style="color: #333333">where MMDDhhmm is the month day hour min:</span><br>**date MMDDhhmm**<br>> ✅ You need to supply all 4 fields. For example, if it's currently July 23rd 9:00am, type the following: date 07230900<br>3. If you make a mistake, just re-run the date command again with the correct values.<br>4. Once finished, type **exit **to close the unix shell. |
