The calendar is essentially a table in calendar form that contains working days per month and the number of shifts or part shifts that are to be worked. This information is used in the Production Planning program to advise you if there are inadequate shifts to complete the work required on any given day. It is also used to update or recalculate the work centre Required Dates when production is rescheduled. A calendar must be created for each month so that the system is able to perform the above tasks. If you create a calendar for a plant, the work centre associated with that plant takes on the profile that was created for the plant if a calendar for the work centre has not been pre-define.  The calendar for the work centre can then be modified. To create and maintain the Working Calendar for a manufacturing plant or a selection of work centres, perform the following: 1. From the  ProStix Main Menu  select 'Production Scheduling' then  'File Maintenance' then 'Calendars' .  The calendar for a month is created by loading the program and completing the following steps: 2. The 'Define Calendar' screen allows you to define the calendar for the plant or work centre, refer to the 'Define Calendar' collapsible link for a screenshot and an explanation of these options: 3. After selecting the required plant or work centre/s the calendar appears. The calendar defaults to the current date but you may change this by using the arrow keys: 4. Once you have selected the calendar to maintain, select <Enter>.  The calendar for the month has now been created. The week days for the month default the number of shifts to one (1) and the weekend days default the number of shifts to zero (0).  The number of shifts may then be maintained, as detailed in the steps below. 5. Once you have created the calendar or selected one to update, the screen displays a weekly calendar with the default number of shifts allocated to each day. 6. To change the calendar for a date, highlight the required date and select <F7>.  Type the required number of shifts or part shifts for that day and press <Enter>.  Continue to maintain the selected calendar, day by day until the month has been defined.
