This topic explains how to do stocktake by location. Assumptions Overview The existing functionality has been extended to allow for stocking and selling by location. The following system requirements were covered within  phase 1 : All functionality is enabled if FeatureLOC is enabled. Stocktake functionality is enhanced to be performed at a stock location level if the FeatureLOC functionality has been enabled : Freeze Stock Quantities In order to be able to perform stocktakes at a location level within a branch, the system needs to be able to freeze stock quantities for a location. Operators may not want all branch locations for the product frozen. The existing Stock Freeze program freezes the product quantities across all locations within the specified branch / product group range. The business rules remain the same for the scenario where FeatureLOC is disabled or if the location range is left at the default values (the full location range). The  From and To  Location fields can only be updated if feature code FeatureLOC is enabled. The new business logic is used if FeatureLOC is enabled and the  From and To Locations  are not the default values (that is, the operator wants to freeze only a specific location or range of locations). The location range are now used as part of the filtering criteria for the products it is to freeze the quantities for. The locations are treated completely independent of each other and we simply sum the location quantities on hand in order to give the branch stock on hand. Stockcard entry, various stockcard reports and updates to stock have been modified to cater for this enhancement. Stock Card Entry We have created the ability for stocking locations to be treated completely independent of each other. Stock Card Entry has been enhanced to restrict entry to a single location for a particular stock card. If FeatureLOC is enabled, the operator may enter a valid location. The location must exist for the branch that was entered. If the location is defined (that is, a non-blank value), and the stock card elected already exists, validation occurs to ensure that all lines on the stock card have the same stock location defined as what was entered. If this validation fails, the error message  'Stock card contains a different location'  is displayed and the operator cannot proceed further. If the stock card is a new stock card and the location has been defined, then this location is the default bin location displayed within the product line entry and the operator is not able to change the location code to any other value. If a location is entered and the Pack Stock flag is set to 'Yes', then an error message stating that Pack Stock is not supported for location specific stocktakes is displayed. The operator is not able to proceed until they clear the location code for pack stock. If the location code has not been entered, then the stock card entry program behave as per existing functionality where products within the card are for any location within the specified branch. Appropriate stock card reports have been also modified to display location details. Stocktake Report Modifications In order to support the stock take side of Stocking and Selling by Location, a number of Stocktake Reports have been modified to display the location of the products involved. The following reports required the specified modification. The location field may only be updated if FeatureLOC is enabled.        Post Count Listing      - Added Location as filter criteria. The branch and location combination must be a valid stocking location.      - The report then only prints stock card details for products at that location.       Uncounted Card Listing      - Added in the location as filter criteria. The branch and location combination must be a valid stocking location.      - The length of the Bin / Location field has been increased to display the full location code.        Product Stock Card Cross Reference      - Added the location as filter criteria. The branch and location combination must be a valid stocking location.      - Added the location within the header information of the report, that is, as close as possible to the Branch information that is currently printed within the report.       Stock Take Summary      - Added the location as filter criteria. The branch and location combination must be a valid stocking location.      - Added the location within the header information of the report, that is, as close as possible to the Branch information that is currently printed within the report.       Stock Variation Report      - There are three different reports - Standard, Frozen Stock and Pack Reports. Pack Reports has NOT been modified since pack stock stocktakes within locations is not supported.      - Added the location as filter criteria. The branch and location combination must be a valid stocking location.      - Within the reports, the count quantity details are printed at the location level. Thus only stock for the specified location is printed. The location is printed on the report header along with the branch details. Update Stock Modifications In order to support the stocktake side of Stocking & Selling by Location, the Update Stock program has been modified so stock can be updated at a stocking location level rather than for the whole branch. If FeatureLOC is  disabled , then the  Location  field is display only and cannot be updated. The value within the location field is blank which represents all locations at the specified branch. Under this scenario, the program behaves as per the existing Stock Update functionality. If FeatureLOC is  enabled , the user can optionally enter a stocking location. If the location is left blank, it represents that all locations for the branch can be updated by the stock update. If the location is non-blank, the branch and location code combination is validated to ensure that it is a defined stocking location. If it is not a defined stocking location within ProStix, then the error message  'Not a defined stocking location at the specified branch'  is displayed and the operator is not allowed to proceed. If the branch / location combination is a valid stocking location, these are used as additional filter criteria in selecting the stock from valid stock cards that can be updated. Also, if the location code is entered, in order to keep consistency in not having partially updated stock cards, if there is any single line within a stock card that doesn't have the location specified, then the whole stock card is not updated. All lines within the stock card need to have the same stocking location code. After the validation and checking has been done, the stock cards within the filter criteria range are updated with the count quantity as per existing functionality. The Standard Variation Report and the Stock Take Products with a Variation Report produced from this program have also been modified to print the Location Code within the report header alongside the branch information.
