The Report Designer is a flexible, user-friendly database query tool that can be used to interrogate data from underlying database(s). Unlike many other query/reporting tools, the administrator can "hide" database tables and/or fields so that users are only able to extract data from a subset of the database. Furthermore, tables and/or fields are able to be renamed to more user-friendly names. Once a user has created a report definition, the definition can be optionally saved to the repository, and re-run at any stage thereafter, without having to redefine the whole report. Ad-hoc reports can be defined and run, without having to save them to the repository.

Once a report has been run, the results can either be viewed within the Designer, exported to Excel (in native Excel format, or comma-separated fields), exported to XML or sent through to the supplied Reporting Engine where they may be printed or emailed.

# User security and Query Creation/Deletion

1. When a user is logged into Frameworks, they are unable to edit any other Owners Queries:

2. After a Query has been added, the **Name** field cannot be changed
3. Whenever a Query is added in the **Report Definition Maintenance**, an entry is created in system_program for the query if it does not already exist. The entry is labelled accordingly to these rules:

- Program Name = Query Name
- Program Description = 'Report - " + Query Name

4. Whenever a query is deleted in **Report Definition Maintenance**, the relevant system_program is also deleted.
