# How to Search for a Supplier

To search for a supplier to then view and maintain their details, complete the following:

1. Click the **Supplier Dashboard **icon at the top of Frameworks.

> ℹ️ The right side of the **Supplier Dashboard** screen displays **Recently Selected** products. Simply click the hyperlink to view, and in some cases maintain, information for the chosen item.

2. There are two search options: a **Basic **and **Advanced **search:
  1. **Basic Search**: Click **Find **to search for all your suppliers. You can refine your search using the following:
    - **Type: ** Select either **Stock** or **Expense** or leave blank.
    - **Search: **Enter the supplier’s name, partial name or supplier ID you are looking for.
    - **My Brand Only: **Enable the checkbox to display your branded suppliers if applicable. Brands give you the ability to divide your business/branches by brand or division. Supplier brands are allocated in [Supplier Maintenance](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28390076).
    - **Exclude Held Suppliers: **Enable the checkbox to exclude (not show) suppliers whose status is set to **Hold**.
Once you have added your **Search Criteria** click **Find **to update the search results.
  2. **Advanced Search Criteria: **Opens up additional search options to help you refine your search even more.
    These options are:
    - **Type**:
    - **From Supplier **and** To** range: Enter a supplier ID range for the suppliers you are looking for.
    - **From Name **and** To** range: Enter a supplier name range for the suppliers you are looking for.
    - **Name Begins**: Enter the beginning of the supplier's name to find all suppliers with this text at the start of their name.
Once you have added your **Advanced Search** **Criteria**, click **Find**.

> ⚠️ If the search times out you will need to be more specific with your search criteria because too many records are being returned.

3. Once the results are displayed, click the relevant **Supplier **hyperlink** **to view, and in some cases maintain, information for the chosen supplier.

> ℹ️ If there is only one supplier returned in the search results, their supplier record is automatically displayed.
