# NuVu Printer Configuration

The **Printer Maintenance** option allows you to create and delete printers within your Frameworks system.

Generally all documents that output from Frameworks with the exception of Point Of Sale dockets, prompt the user with their output options. Some of these options involve the selection of a printer for the output to be sent to. Before the printer can be selected, it must first be defined in Frameworks.

## Add Printers

To create printers in Frameworks, from the home **Dashboard** perform the following:

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu** and navigate to **System administration > Printers & Devices > Printer Maintenance** from within the navigation tree.
2. To add a new printer, click **Add**.
3. Enter in the required information you may enter when creating printers.

**Printer**

Enter the ID for the printer. This serves as the identifier for the printer within Frameworks.

---

**Description**

Enter a description for the printer; this description will appear in the print dialogue screen when selecting a printer.

---

**Branch**

Enter the Branch that the printer belongs to. Branch 0 for all branches.

---

**NuVu**

Check this if the printer is using NuVu.

---

**O/S** **Queue**

A string search name of the print queue on the NuVu Server.  Cannot contain spaces.  Must be unique.
**Example:** You can't use "*counter*" if the NuVu Server print queues include "*counter*" and "*counter2*"

---

**NuVu Server**

Enter the name or IP address of the NuVu server where the printer is installed.
</details>

4. To save the changes, click **Save**.

> ⚠️ Once a printer has been added the **Printer** name can no longer be edited. To edit a printer name, the printer needs to be removed and re-added.

5. To delete a printer, highlight the appropriate printer, then click **Remove**.

# Docket Printer Maintenance

POS Docket printers can be setup the same way as NuVu printers as per above, however Frameworks does not currently have the functionality to define the configuration of these printers such as escape codes and layouts. Once a Docket Printer has been setup in Frameworks, users need to go to ProStix to configure the following:

- Escape Code Names
- Print Layout Codes
- Define Print Layouts
- Default Program Layouts

> ⚠️ **Note: **Logo printing on dockets is not set up in Frameworks. This **must **be configured directly on the docket printer itself, provided the docket printer allows this functionality. Please see the printer's manual for more information and instructions.
