# Overview

The ETM Control Parameter allows you to define the default output directories used in the various areas of ETM output processing and <span style="color: #333333">the directory path in which the ETM Input Control Parameters reside.</span>

# <span style="color: #172b4d">Defining the ETM Control Parameters</span>

To access and define the ETM Control Parameters, perform the following:

1. Click **Frameworks **then navigate to **Electronic Trade > ETM Control Parameters **from the navigation tree.
2. Update the **Control Parameters** as follows:
  - **Default Output** **Folder**:  This is the default directory where ETM outputs the processed documents.
  - **Spool Folder**: This is the location where Frameworks spools the ETM xml files before they are turned into request files.
  - **Request** **Folder**: This is the directory where ETM outputs the request files and is the same value placed against the '**Connection**' field in System Parameters.
  - **File Extension (eg: xml)**: This is the file extension that is appended to ETM spooled files before they are turned into request files.
  - **Input Template Folder**: Type the directory path in which your ETM Input Format Files reside.
  - **Output Template** **Folder**: This is the directory where the ETM Output formats are stored.
