# Overview

From time to time, adjustments need to be made to debtor accounts to reduce or increase their account balances.  This could be necessary due to a payment processed to the wrong account that needs to be transferred, or a disputed charge like interest that needs to be adjusted off to a General Ledger account.

Processing cannot be completed against internal accounts to prevent an internal account from holding a balance. If internal accounts are correctly setup, the balances should already appear in the General Ledger, so there is no need to complete any adjustments

To make Customer to Customer adjustments to debtor accounts, from the home **Dashboard** perform the following:

1. Click **Frameworks **then type **Customer To Customer Adjustments **(or select **Customer To Customer Adjustments** from within the **Receivables - Transaction Processing **navigation tree).
2. Click **New **to create a new customer adjustment.
3. Enter in the Customer ID of the customer whose account is to be adjusted in the *Customer 1* *field** **or search for it via **Search**.
4. Enter in the Customer ID of the customer you will be making the adjustment to *Customer 2* *field or search for it via **Search.**
5. The *Adjustment Date* defaults to the current date. **Search** is available to select from.

> ℹ️ **Note:** A debtor transaction may not appear if the **[PrevFutDebAdj](https://kb.myframeworks.com.au/space/FRAM/580716129/Receivable+Related+System+Settings#PrevFutDebAdj)**** **flag is **enabled**, as only transactions within the current open debtor period are shown. Disable the flag to view all transactions.

6. Select the reason code in the *Reason Code* field via the drop-down arrow.
7. To adjust the entire transaction value, enable the check box for the appropriate transaction(s); otherwise, type the amount to be deducted in the *Adjust value *field. That is, if reducing the customer debt of the first customer, type an amount that will be deducted from the total *Trans Value* of the first customer and will be added to the total *Trans Value* of the second customer.

> ℹ️ The amount entered in the *Adjust Value *field should neither be greater than the Trans value or negative amount. An error message will be displayed for both scenarios.
