# <span style="color: #003366">Useful Point of Sale Information</span>

## 1. Keyboard Shortcuts

Shortcuts exist within Point Of Sale. You will notice certain fields have an underlined character.

**For example,**

- **Customer** has the letter **m **underlined ( **Custo**<u>**m**</u>**er**: )
- **Customer No** has the letter **e** underlined ( **Custom**<u>**e**</u>**r O/No**:** **)
- **Product** has the letter **P** underlined ( <u>**P**</u>**roduct: **)
- **Unit Price** has the letter** r** underlined ( **Unit P**<u>**r**</u>**ice: **)
- **Disc %** has the letter **i** underlined ( **D**<u>**i**</u>**sc %: **)

This underlined character represents the shortcut key to use to move to that field.

> ℹ️ - If using **Firefox**, select* shift-alt* then the shortcut key to use the shortcut.
> ℹ️ - If using **Google Chrome**, select* alt* to use the shortcut.

| **Shortcut** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **Alt+m** | Takes you to the **Customer** field. |
| **Alt+e** | Takes you to the **Customer O/No** field. |
| **Alt+p** | Takes you to the **Product** field. |
| **Alt+r** | Takes you to the **Unit Price** field. |
| **Alt+i** | Takes you to the **Disc %** field |

## 2. Transaction Header Section

See below information about the POS Transaction Header section of the screen:

1. The **Customer** field (> Macro (inline-media-image)

) allows you to type or search for the customer number for account customers.
  1. As you type the customer’s name a list of possible customers will pop up. Click on the customer's name to select the customer.
    If there are no immediate matches to the typed information in the **Customer** field, the Customer Finder will automatically populate the search bar of the customer lookup. You can further refine the search criteria using the row filter/s.
    
  2. If a customer has active selectable contracts, then a Contract field is displayed, with the alert icon, to allow the user to select a contract. A contract isn't required to be select.

2. The **Customer O/No field** (> Macro (inline-media-image)

is used to add the P/O or Job number.
3. The **Reference** field (> Macro (inline-media-image)

) is a free form text field typically used to record car registration numbers or yard picking docket numbers.
4. The **Add Customer **button to the right of the Transaction header allows you to quickly create a new customer from within POS. Refer to [Customer Maintenance](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28389894) for further information on the fields and descriptions.
5. If a customer is selected, the section to the right of the screen displays the **Reward Card** number and number of points and their value if they have a reward card defined against the customer.

## 3. Other Useful Information

1. If your PC has been configured as a scanner input device (to configure a scanner input device, tick the **Scanner Input **field in [Device Maintenance](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28396262).), you are able to quickly add multiple quantities of a particular Product. From the **Product** field, type the quantity required (for example, **5**), followed by an ***** (asterisk) then select your <tab> key, then type the Product ID.
2. To set the number of copies to print at POS, enabled the "# Copies" settings in [Device Maintenance](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28396262).
3. Mandatory fields are indicated by the > Macro (inline-media-image)

icon.
4. If the '**passwordreq**' field in user access is set to '**Yes**', a password entry form appears for each new transaction.

5. Frameworks can set a personal security password for an account which is then required by the customer at the point of sale in order to charge the account.

6. For Point of Sale, star dockets will round to two decimal places regardless of the UOM decimal place setting for the displayed product, however the calculation for the Line Price uses the correct number of decimal places as defined by the UOM. Dependent on the UOM, the quantity and the number of decimal places of the products Unit Price, for some star dockets, the Line Price may show a rounding difference if you calculate these figures manually based on the displayed Unit Price.
