The structure of a Chart of Accounts (COA) can vary depending on the specific needs of an organisation. However, Frameworks conform to a common standard for a 9-digit structure in a COA as follows:

# Stock Related Accounts

## Category

Asset, Liability, Equity, Income (Revenue) or Expense

- **1:** Assets (e.g., cash, accounts receivable, inventory)
- **2:** Liabilities (e.g., accounts payable, loans, accrued expenses)
- **3: **Equity (e.g., owner's equity, retained earnings)
- **4: **Income (e.g., sales, services rendered)
- **5: **Expenses (e.g., salaries, rent, utilities)

## Account Type

This digit represents the main account category or group to which the account belongs. Examples include:

- **1: **Current Assets
- **2: **Non-current Assets
- **3: **Current Liabilities
- **4: **Non-current Liabilities
- **5: **Capital (Equity)
- **6: **Profit (Revenue)
- **7:** Other Income (Cost of Goods Sold)
- **8:** Expenses (Operating Expenses)
- **9:** Expense Recovery (Non-operating Expenses)

## Prefix
