# Overview

**Production Scheduling** manages your manufacturing operations from design through to delivery, coordinating tasks and resources to ensure efficient production and on-time completion of customer orders.

The module integrates with **Sales Order Processing** to automatically create production schedules based on customer delivery requirements, providing visibility and control over your entire manufacturing workflow. Whether you're manufacturing frames, trusses, or other complex products, **Production Scheduling **ensures your team knows what to produce, when to produce it, and tracks actual performance against estimates.

> ⚠️ Production Scheduling requires the feature code **PSC **to be valid and enabled.

> **Business Scenario:**
>
> A frame and truss manufacturer receives a large residential development order requiring 45 roof trusses within a specific delivery window. When the sales order is created, Production Scheduling automatically generates the manufacturing tasks, assigns them to the appropriate production areas (design, detailing, cutting, assembly), and schedules them to meet the delivery date. Throughout production, your team monitors progress via the Production Dashboard, adjusting schedules as needed when material delays or design changes occur. When the detailing task is completed, the system calculates the actual GP% against the estimate, prompting for a variance reason when costs differ significantly from the quote. This visibility helps the business understand true job profitability and continuously improve their estimating accuracy.

# Key Capabilities

## Production Task Management

Production Scheduling breaks manufacturing work into manageable tasks that flow through your production areas. Each task tracks materials, labour, timing, and profitability:

- **Task Creation**: Automatically generates tasks from sales orders or manually creates them for internal work
- **Task Scheduling**: Assigns tasks to production areas with target completion dates based on customer delivery requirements
- **Task Tracking**: Monitors task status, materials consumed, and labour time throughout production
- **Task Completion**: Records actual costs and calculates profitability variance against estimates

## Plant and Process Configuration

Define how your manufacturing facility operates:

- **Plant Configuration**: Set up production areas (design, detailing, cutting, assembly) and assign personnel
- **Process Models**: Define task sequences and dependencies for different product types
- **Task Shifts**: Configure working hours and capacity across multiple production shifts
- **Standard Tasks**: Create reusable task templates for common manufacturing operations

## Production Monitoring and Reporting

Gain visibility into manufacturing performance:

- **Production Dashboard**: Real-time view of all active tasks across production areas
- **Production Calendar**: Schedule view showing task allocation and resource utilisation
- **GP% Variance Analysis**: Track profitability by comparing estimated vs actual costs on completed tasks
- **Progress Tracking**: Monitor task completion rates, material consumption, and labour efficiency

## Integration Points

Production Scheduling works seamlessly with other Frameworks modules:

- **Sales Order Processing**: Automatically creates production tasks from sales orders with manufactured products
- **Projects Module**: Links production tasks to project management for complex jobs
- **Inventory Management**: Tracks material consumption and updates stock levels as tasks consume components
- **General Ledger**: Posts manufacturing costs and work-in-progress movements to financial accounts
- **Design Systems**: Imports component details from Multinail, Mitek/Pryda, and other design packages

# Getting Started with Production Scheduling

To begin using Production Scheduling:

1. **Configure Your Plant**: Set up production areas, personnel, and working hours
2. **Define Process Models**: Create task sequences for your standard manufacturing processes
3. **Set Up Standard Tasks**: Build reusable task templates for common operations
4. **Configure GP% Variance**: Set tolerance levels and create reason codes
5. **Enable Integration**: Activate system settings to connect with Sales Order Processing
6. **Train Your Team**: Ensure production staff understand task completion procedures
