# <span style="color: #003366">Overview</span>

A PIN entry only (PEO) operator is a Frameworks User Id that allows for the user to be logged into a devices once and then each user needing to utilise options from that devices functions must enter an **Operator Number** and **PIN** for access. This PIN then associates any work performed on the given transaction (Sale, credit, purchase, etc) as belonging to the PIN user and not the logged in PEO details.

## <span style="color: #003366">Where to Use</span>  


<span style="color: #000000">The PEO facility is suitable in any environment where devices are shared between users with a common need or job function, for example, POS operators. It is not a way to avoid user licensing as each shared PIN user must be a valid user within the system. </span>

<span style="color: #000000">The </span>**<span style="color: #000000">limitations</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> to the facility and thereby where a standard login process should apply are:</span>

1. Environments where there are mostly Non-shared or limited shared devices.
2. Where devices are shared but the job roles are different.
3. Situations where specific functions are needed by some shared users that do not have PIN Entry required. The PEO user menu will only show items where the related transaction entry has PIN entry enabled or enquiry functions that have been made accessible to PEO users.

# <span style="color: #003366">How setup up a PIN Entry Only operator</span>

> ⚠️ **Important:** To complete these steps you will need to know how to [Creating a Frameworks User ID](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28386228).

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu** and navigate to **System Administration > Users & Security > User Maintenance**.
2. Create a **New User **to be the generic PEO user account (e.g., POS1) that will be used to login to the devices with.

> ℹ️ Ensue you set the correct **Security Class** and **User Groups** consistent with the planned shared users

3. Click **Save**.
4. On the User Maintenance screen for the new PEO user, ensure the following options are set:
  - Using the **Max Sessions** field to set the number of devices this PEO user can log into. The value needs to be greater than 1 for multiple devices.
  - Enable the **Pin Entry Only Account** flag.
  - Confirm that the **User Groups** are consistent with the planned shared users.
  - All other details should apply standard business rules.
5. Click **Save** to apply the about changes.

# <span style="color: #003366">Using the PEO User account</span>

1. Log in as the PEO user (e.g., POS1). Only the options that are **PIN Entry enabled** in the system will be accessible for the users.
2. When the shared user selects a menu option or shortcut, such as Point of Sale, they will be prompted to enter an **Operator Number** and **PIN** before they can perform the transaction.

> ℹ️ The **Operator Number** is the shared users **Salesrep No. **which is set in the User Maintenance screen.

3. Once entered that next transaction will belong to that shared user. Once they **Save**, **Cancel** or **Close** the transaction the system will return awaiting the next PIN User.

> ⚠️ # License Implications
> ⚠️ 
> ⚠️ - For customers on a **Named User License** or **Subscription model**, the PEO user does not count towards the total Named User Count.
> ⚠️ - For **concurrent users**, once the device is logged on it is utilising a license user count.
