# Overview

The **Merge Product Codes **function allows you to <span style="color: #333333">merge two products that exist independently in Frameworks. This can be done by manually entering in the Merge from and to product numbers, one at a time, as well as importing a .csv file with the Merge from and Merge to product numbers.</span>

> ⚠️ Confirm that you have selected the correct product, as this task will result in permanent changes to the Product Master File.

When merging products, there are a couple of points to be aware of:

- Both product need to exist in Frameworks
- Both must have the same base Unit of Measure (UOM)
- Both must have the same dimensions: (length, depth and width)

# Implications of merging product codes:

In merging <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A **</span>(Merge From) into <span style="color: #008000">**Product B **</span>(Merge To):

- Most details of <span style="color: #008000">**Product B**</span> will be retained
- <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span> will be deleted
- <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span>'s product code will be added as an alternate code to <span style="color: #008000">**Product B**</span>

> ⚠️ Enable the [InvSaveAlt](https://kb.myframeworks.com.au/space/FRAM/571510700/Inventory+Related+System+Settings#InvSaveAlt) flag to save the original product code as an alternate code when renumbering. Otherwise, disable it to prevent the original product code from being retained as an alternate code.

- Any alternate codes that were assigned to <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span> will be moved to <span style="color: #008000">**Product B**</span>
- The branch qty of hand values will be combined
- The average cost will be recalculated based on the average cost and branch qty of both products
- <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span>'s surcharges are not merged into <span style="color: #008000">**Product B**</span> if surcharges already exist in <span style="color: #008000">**Product B.**</span>
- If <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span> is on a quote or sales/purchase order, the product number for <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span> product changes to <span style="color: #008000">**Product B**</span>. The selling price and any surcharges remain.
- **Invoices are not changed**.
- Stock Movement for <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span> that has been merged is lost. It is not carried over to <span style="color: #008000">**Product B**</span>.
- When merged, the GTINs of <span style="color: #ff6600">**Product A**</span> are added to the <span style="color: #008000">**Product B.**</span>

#  Merging Product Codes

To **Merge Product Codes,** perform the following:

## 1. Accessing Merge Product Code

1. Click **Frameworks**, then navigate to **Inventory > Utilities & Scheduled Tasks > Merge Product Codes** from the navigation tree.

## 2. Adding the Products to be Merged

On the **Product Codes **tab, you can change the product codes by:

### 1. Manually adding the changes

1. In the **Merge Product From** field enter in the product code, of the product want to change or click **Search **to open the product finder to select the product.
2. On the **Merge To** field enter in the new product code.

> ℹ️ **As the products are selected, you will also be able to compare the product's UOM (these need to be the same), Std Cost, GP% and Sell Price.**

3. Click **Add** to add the changes the **Pending Product Changes** grid.

### 2. Importing a .csv of changes

1. Click **Upload** **CSV **and **choose the file** required.
2. Click **Upload**.
3. Once the .csv file has been uploaded next to **Import File, it** will display the filename that was uploaded, and the product code changes will be in the **Pending Product Merges **grid.

## 3. Confirming the Product being Merged

In the **Pending Product Mergers **grid, check that all the product merger from and To's are correct.

- Use the **Pencil** icon to edit the product merge
- Use the **Close **to remove the product merge from the grid.

## 4. Committing the Changes

Go to the **Schedule** tab to schedule the task as required, and then click** Submit** to run the task.

If there are a large amount of changes, we recommend running this task after business hours to reduce the load on your system.

If you run the task immediately, the **Output **tab displays the results of the completed task, and you can click on the reports generated.
