# Overview

<span style="color: #333333">The sales order template notification event is used to send </span><span style="color: #333333">**Emails**</span><span style="color: #333333">, </span><span style="color: #333333">**SMS Messages**</span><span style="color: #333333"> and </span><span style="color: #333333">**Frameworks Notifications**</span><span style="color: #333333"> on an ad hoc basis using the </span><span style="color: #333333">**Send Message **</span><span style="color: #333333">option in </span><span style="color: #333333">[Sales Order Maintenance](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28408932)</span><span style="color: #333333">.</span>

This document will help you to configure the <span style="color: #333333">**salesOrderTemplate **</span><span style="color: #333333">event to allow you to </span><span style="color: #333333">**Emails**</span><span style="color: #333333">, </span><span style="color: #333333">**SMS Messages**</span><span style="color: #333333"> and </span><span style="color: #333333">**Frameworks Notifications**</span><span style="color: #333333"> on an ad hoc basis.</span>

> ⚠️ **Important**: The Feature code **SNA** must be enabled to allow the Standard Notification Actions of Email, SMS and Frameworks Notifications. To utilise this feature please contact [Support](https://kb.myframeworks.com.au/page/support).

# Configuring the S<span style="color: #333333">ales Order Messages Templates</span>

When configuring your Sales Order Messages templates, once you are subscribed to the **salesOrderTemplate, you** can add any number of different actions (templates); for example, you may have three email templates, no SMS templates, and one notification template. The steps below will show you how to make one of each template. Click on each heading for more information.

## 1. Subscribe to the Sales Order Template Event

The first set is to subscribe to the **salesOrderTemplate **so you can then add the required actions (templates) to be used when Send Message is selected. To do this, perform the following:

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu** and navigate to **System Administration > Event Notifications > Setup & Administration > Event Definition Maintenance **from the navigation tree.
2. Click **New** at the bottom of the page to enable the **Event ID Information** section.

3. From the **Event ID **drop-down menu, select **salesOrderTemplate.**
4. Enable the **subscribe** checkbox.

> ℹ️ This can be unticked if you no longer want to subscribe to this event.

5. In the **Description **field, enter a description about the event, for example, "Send Message Template for all sales order-related emails and SMS.".

# Sending a Message from a Sales Order

<span style="color: #333333">Once you have defined your message templates (actions), as above, each of the variable text parts, such as {order:numTran}, will be replaces with the real data from the sales order you are sending the message from. </span>

To send <span style="color: #333333">an </span><span style="color: #333333">**Email**</span><span style="color: #333333">, </span><span style="color: #333333">**SMS Messages**</span><span style="color: #333333"> and/or </span><span style="color: #333333">**Frameworks Notifications, **</span><span style="color: #333333">perform the following (Click on each heading for more information.):</span>

## 1. Navigate to a Sales Order 

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu** then navigate to **Sales > Transaction Processing > Sale Orders **from the navigation tree.
2. Create a new Sales Order or search for an exiting Sales Order.

3. Click **Actions** then select **Send Message.**

> ℹ️ On clicking **Send Message **the sales order is automatically saved and it must pass all validation steps, including the contact details being present on the Delivery Details tab, before the **Messaging Popup** is display.

## 2. Send an Email

In the **Messaging Popup** window perform the following:

1. From the **Template Type **field drop-down menu select **Email.**

> ℹ️ Only subscribed actions (templates) which have been defined will be available.

2. From the **Template To Use **drop-down menu select the required email template to use. If multiple email action have been subscribed to they will show up here.
3. In the **From **field enter the email address you want the email to be sent from. This will default to the current users email address defined in [User Maintenance](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28378032)
4. In the **To **field enter the email address you want to sent the email to. This will default to the **Contact Email** on the Sales Order.
5. In the **CC** and** BCC** fields enter any additional email addresses as required. This will default to what is defined in the selected [Sales Order Send Message Template#emailTemplate](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28383336/Sales+Order+Send+Message+Template#%5BinlineExtension%5D2.-Add-an-Email-Template) to use.
6. The **Subject **field will display what is defined in the selected [Sales Order Send Message Template#emailTemplate](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28383336/Sales+Order+Send+Message+Template#%5BinlineExtension%5D2.-Add-an-Email-Template) to use. If the subject was left blank in the email template "Sales Order ####" will be displayed.
7. The **Body **field will display what is defined in the selected [Sales Order Send Message Template#emailTemplate](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28383336/Sales+Order+Send+Message+Template#%5BinlineExtension%5D2.-Add-an-Email-Template) to use. Tick > Macro (inline-media-image)

** Show Body as HTML** to view and edit the body as a HTML email.

> ℹ️ Update the email body as required.

8. Click **Send** to send the email message.

> ❌ **Known Issue:** You are unable to add an attachment.

## 3. Create a Notification

In the **Messaging Popup** window perform the following:

1. In the **Template Type **field drop-down menu select **Notification.**

> ℹ️ Only actions (templates) that have been defined will be available.

2. From the **Template To Use **drop-down menu select the required notification template to use. If multiple notification actions have been subscribed to they will show up here.
3. In the **User **field enter a valid Frameworks User ID. Click the Search icon to open the **User Finder** window.
4. The **Subject** and** Body** field will default to what is defined in the selected [Sales Order Send Message Template#notificationTemplate](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28383336/Sales+Order+Send+Message+Template#%5BinlineExtension%5D3.-Add-a-Notification-Template) to use.

> ℹ️ Update the these fields as required.

5. Click **Send** to create the Frameworks notification for the selected user.

## 4. Send a SMS Message

In the **Messaging Popup** window perform the following:

1. In the **Template Type **field drop-down menu select **SMS.**

> ℹ️ Only actions (templates) that have been defined will be available.

2. From the **Template To Use **drop-down menu select the required SMS template to use. If multiple SMS actions have been subscribed to they will show up here.
3. In the **Phone **field enter the mobile phone number you want to sent the SMS message to. This will default to the **Contact Number **on the Sales Order.
4. The **Body** field will default to what is defined in the selected [Sales Order Send Message Template#smsTemplate](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28383336/Sales+Order+Send+Message+Template#%5BinlineExtension%5D4.-Add-a-SMS-Template) to use.

> ℹ️ Update the body message as required.

5. Click **Send** to send the SMS message.
