# Overview

The **ETM Data Translations **allows you to define a field value translation between a specified Entity and Frameworks, so that when Frameworks imports an input file from that Entity, it imports values that can be recognised within Frameworks.

> 📝 A supplier may output a particular UOM as MTR (linear metres), but a linear metre may be defined within Frameworks as LM.

# <span style="color: #172b4d">Defining the ETM Data Translations</span>

To access and define the ETM Data Translations, perform the following:

1. Click **Frameworks **then navigate to **Electronic Trade > ETM Data Translations **from the navigation tree.
2. Click **Find **to view all the ETM Data Translation **Document IDs**

> ℹ️ To refine the search in the **Document From **and **Document To **fields enter a range of document ID's to search and then click **Find**.

3. To update any of the **Data Translations **click on the **Document ID **hyperlink to view and edit the details to the right of the screen.
  - **Document ID: **This displays the Document Id
  - **Description**: This displays the description of the Data Translation Document ID you are defining.
  - **Engine**: This displays the Frameworks Engine of the Data Translation Document ID you are defining.
4. Click **Add **to add a new data translation for the selected document ID and enter the following details
  - **Entity**: Enter the trading partners entity the translation applies to. The entity type can be **customer, supplier, user, bank **or **system.** Click **Search **to open the **Trading Partner Finder **to search for an entity.
  - **Field**: Enter the name of the field in the document to translate. Click **Search **to open the **ETM Field Finder **to search for a field.
  - **Partner Value** and **Our Value**: Enter the value you want translated between the Entity (Partner Value) and Frameworks (Our Value_).

5. Click **Save** to commit any changes
