The **Stock Adjustment Reason Codes** screen is where administrators define the reason codes that operators select when posting stock adjustments. Reason codes describe the cause of the adjustment (for example, faulty stock, stolen stock, custom-manufactured product) and provide the basis for filtering and reporting on stock movements.

## Accessing the Stock Adjustment Reason Codes Screen

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu** and navigate to **System Administration > System Setup > Inventory > Stock Adjustment Reason Codes**.
2. The **Stock Adjustment Reason Codes** screen opens, displaying all reason codes defined for every company.

## Navigating the Stock Adjustment Reason Codes Screen

The Stock Adjustment Reason Codes screen consists of a single grid showing all reason codes, with action buttons above the grid and command buttons at the bottom of the screen.

## Action Buttons

The action buttons appear above the grid.

### Add

Click **Add** to insert a blank row at the bottom of the grid for a new reason code. Enter the **Company**, **Code** and **Description** values in the new row, then click **Save** to commit.

**Action:** Adds a new row to the grid.

### Remove

Click **Remove** to delete the currently selected row from the grid. The deletion is committed when **Save** is clicked.

**Action:** Removes the selected row from the grid.

> ⚠️ **Important:** Removing a reason code that is referenced by system settings (for example, **InvAKitDef**) or that exists on historical stock adjustments may cause downstream errors. Confirm the code is not in active use before removing it.

---

## Grid Columns

The grid displays one row per reason code. Each row is editable inline. A filter row appears immediately below the column headers — enter a value in any column's filter field to narrow the displayed rows.

### Line

The **Line** column displays the sequential row number within the grid. The value is system-generated and updates automatically as rows are added or removed.

**Format:** Numeric | **Editable:** No (display only)

### Company

The **Company** column identifies which company the reason code applies to. Enter a specific company number (for example, **01**, **02**) to restrict the code to that company, or enter **00** to make the code available to every company.

**Format:** Numeric (two digits) | **Editable:** Yes | **Required:** Yes

> ⚠️ **Important:** Define each reason code either for all companies (**00**) or for specific companies, but not both. The system does not enforce uniqueness across the **00** and specific-company entries. If a code with the same value exists at both **00** and a specific company number, behaviour at runtime is unpredictable.

### Code

The **Code** column holds the short identifier for the reason code. The code is what appears in drop-down selections on the stock adjustment screen and what gets stored against stock adjustment transactions. Use uppercase short identifiers without spaces (for example, **ASSEMBLED**, **CUTTOSIZE**, **FAULT**, **WROFF**).

**Format:** Text (uppercase short identifier) | **Editable:** Yes | **Required:** Yes

### Description

The **Description** column holds the human-readable label for the reason code. The description appears alongside the code in drop-down selections and on reports. Use a clear, descriptive label (for example, *Custom Manufactured Product*, *Damaged or Shop Soiled Stock*, *Stolen Stock*).

**Format:** Text | **Editable:** Yes | **Required:** Yes

---

## Command Buttons

The command buttons appear at the bottom of the screen.

### Save

Click **Save** to commit all pending changes (additions, edits and removals) to the Stock Adjustment Reason Codes table.

**Action:** Saves all grid changes.

### Cancel

Click **Cancel** to discard all pending changes and revert the grid to the last saved state.

**Action:** Discards unsaved changes.

### Close

Click **Close** to exit the screen. If unsaved changes are present, a prompt is displayed before the screen closes.

**Action:** Closes the screen.

## Additional Information

- Stock Adjustment Reason Codes are referenced by system settings that drive automated stock adjustments. The **InvAKitDef** system setting, for example, holds the reason code applied to stock adjustments posted when Assembly tasks are completed. See [Custom Manufacturing - Implementation Guide](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/737837057) for the configuration that links these reason codes to automated workflows.
