# Overview

The **Contact Details** section in the **Customer Dashboard** displays key contact information for the selected customer, including primary, principal, and secondary contact details. You can also add custom attributes, such as birthdays, interests, or other relevant details, to enhance customer relationship management.

## Create New Contact

To create a new customer contact, follow the steps below:

1. Click the **Customer Dashboard** icon from the top middle section of the Frameworks screen.
2. Search for a customer, then once the results are displayed, click the relevant **Cust** link to view (and in some cases maintain) information for the chosen customer.
3. Click **Contact Details**.
4. Click **New Contact** to create a new customer contact. The **Contact Popup Maintenance screen** will be displayed.

**Name **

Enter the name of the customer. This is a mandatory field.

**Home Phone**

Enter the customer’s home contact number.

**Mobile Phone**

Enter the customer’s mobile number.

**Business Phone**

Enter the customer’s business phone number.

---

**Fax Number**

Enter the customer’s fax number.

---

**Email**

Enter the customer’s email address.

**Barcode **

Enter the customer barcode. This barcode can be used when creating a new sales order, quote, or POS transaction to quickly input the related customer details and ensure that the contact information is correct on the transaction. You can enter this manually or generate it automatically.

> ℹ️ Any automatically generated barcode can be overwritten by manually entering a custom contact barcode.

**Guidelines for assigning a barcode:**

- The customer contact barcode must be unique for each customer.
- The barcode should consist only of numeric values.
- If the barcode provided is already assigned to the current or any other customer, an error message will be displayed, and the contact record will not be saved.

**Automatic barcode generation:**

A barcode can be automatically generated by enabling the **AutoPopCCBar** flag in the System Settings. When this feature is enabled, it automatically populates the customer’s contact barcode during the creation and maintenance of customer contact records. This feature is disabled by default.

**Contact Type**

Select the customer’s contact type. This is a mandatory field. 

The available options are:

- Main Contact
- Principal Contact
- Secondary Contact
- Site Supervisor

5. Click **Add** to add an attribute to the contact. Complete the following:
  - Use the **Search** icon to select a **Category** and **Name** for the attribute.
  - Fill in the **Value** field with the relevant information.

> ⚠️ - This can be used to store some personal information relating to the customer, such as their birthday.
> ⚠️ - Relevant attributes with **Auto Add** enabled will be automatically added to the contact's attributes upon the contact's creation. This can be changed within [Define Attributes ](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28382778).

6. Click **Save **to save your changes.

> ✅ **Tip: **Click the **Pencil **icon to edit the customer contact details.** **
