# Overview 

The QZ Tray allows Frameworks to communicate with local printers installed on your computer or laptop.

> ⚠️ The QZ Tray is the only available printing method when using the Frameworks Cloud Solution. From version 6.0, you can use this printing method for any Frameworks solution.

# How to Setup Frameworks Printing with QZ Tray

The following components need to be installed and set up once before using Frameworks Printing with QZ Tray.

## Part A: Setup Remote Printing Service QZ Tray 

To print remotely or using your local printers, you need to set up the remote printing service QZ Tray on each PC that will print from Frameworks.

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu**, then select **My Printer Configuration** from the **System Menu** dropdown in the top right of the screen.
2. Enable the **Use QZ Tray **checkbox.
3. Click on the download link to **download the QZ Tray** installer.
4. When the **Question** window appears, click **No**.
5. Wait for the download to complete, then click **Open**.
6. Click **Next** to install the software. Accept all the default settings.

> ⚠️ QZ Tray may need admin privileges to install it—contact your IT support team if you don't have access.

7. Verify that the **QZ Tray icon** appears in the Windows System Tray at the bottom right of your desktop.

## Part B:  Setup Frameworks My Printer Configuration

Once QZ Tray is installed and running on your PC, you need to authorise it in Frameworks and configure your printer assignments.

### Authorise QZ Tray

1. From the **System Menu** dropdown, in the top right of the screen, select **My Printer Configuration** again.
2. The QZ Tray certification warning will display:
  1. Enable the **Remember this decision** checkbox.
  2. Click **Allow**.

### Configure Your Printers

> 1. From the **System Menu **dropdown, in the top right of the screen, select **My Printer Configuration**.
> 2. The **My Printer Configuration** screen will open and display the following:
>   1. The QZ Tray now shows as **loaded** and **local printers found**.
>   2. A list of various Frameworks **Printer Type** categories.
>   3. A **Printer** assignment for each category.
>   4. A printer **Finder** icon to search your printer list.
> 3. Click the printer **Finder** icon to view a list of all the available printers. The list will now include all your **Local Printers**.
> 
> > ℹ️ **Note:** Local printers start with "BWRS" and display "(Local Printer)" in the branch field.

> 4. Enter any search criteria, click **Find**, and select the appropriate printer.

> 5. Repeat this process for each **Printer Type** category, then click **Save** to commit the changes.

> > ✅ If you are using the same printer for all the **Printer Type** categories, you can Copy (Ctrl + C) the first **Printer** added and Paste (Ctrl + V) it for all the other **Printer Type** categories. Hold down the right Ctrl key with right thumb, then repeat Down Arrow, then C to quickly repeat the copy process to all **Printer** fields.

> > ℹ️ **Note:** Setting default printers is optional. You can select a local printer on-demand when printing any document by clicking the **Finder** icon in the print dialogue.

## Part C: Enable Security Group Access for Print Spool

Users require security access to the **Browser Print Spool** activity to print using QZ Tray. This security setting must be configured by a System Administrator.

#### Update Security Group Access

To enable Browser Print Spool access for users:

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu**, then navigate to **System Administration > Users & Security > Users > Security Group Maintenance** from the navigation tree.
2. From the Security Group Maintenance search window, enter the **Security Group** and/or **Description** of the security group you need to edit and click **Find**.
3. Click on the **Security Group** hyperlink to open the maintenance screen.
4. Under the **Menus** tab, locate and click on the relevant menu item hyperlink.
5. In the Security Group Access window, enable the **Browser Print Spool** activity.
6. Click **Save** to commit the changes.  
If you have selected or unselected activities that are used multiple times, you will be advised. Click **Yes - Perform Save** and these activities will be authorised across Frameworks for the user group.
7. **Repeat for All Required Security Groups**
8. Repeat this process for each security group that requires QZ Tray printing access.

> 📝 **Note:** Users will need to log out and log back in to Frameworks for the security changes to take effect.
