# Overview

> Macro (excerpt-include)

This guide will walk you through the steps necessary to install and configure a signature pad with Frameworks, ensuring smooth operation and easy access to customer signatures when needed.

> Macro (include)

# Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the installation, ensure that the following requirements are met:

1. **Compatible Signature Pad Device**

> ⚠️ Currently, only ePads are supported by Frameworks.

> ✅ Refer to [Supported Signature Pad Devices](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28409070) for the list of supported signature pad devices.

2. **[Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0](https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=21)**** or later**

> ℹ️ - The installation requires .NET Framework v2.0 or later. Local administrator privileges are necessary for installation.
> ℹ️ - If this version is not already installed, the system will prompt you to install it during testing.

# Step-by-Step Installation Process

Some legacy software packages may already be configured to use signature pads, but they might not be web-based. If they are not web-based, the **ActiveX **component required for Frameworks to function correctly is likely not installed. To check and install this component, you can re-run the installer from the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature and modify the installation to include the ActiveX component.

To guide you with Signature Pad (ePad) Installation, follow the steps below:

## 1. Download and Install Required Components

To enable signature pad functionality with Frameworks, you must install the following components:

1. **ePadLink Universal Installer**
  1. Install the [ePadLink Universal Installer](https://www.epadlink.com/phone/universal-installer.html)** **by following the prompts.
  2. Ensure that the **USB option** is ticked (most ePads are USB).
  3. Install the **Generic Test Utilities** option.
  4. Make sure the **ActiveX Utility** is selected to be installed.
2. **ePadLink SigCaptureWeb SDK Installer**
This SDK enables Frameworks to communicate with the signature pad.
  - Install the [ePadLink Universal Installer](https://www.epadlink.com/phone/sigcaptureweb.html)** **by following the prompts.
3. **Browser Extension (for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge)**
You need to install a browser extension to enable signature capture within Frameworks using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser.
  1. Open Google Chrome and go to the Google Chrome Webstore and visit this [link](https://chromewebstore.google.com/search/ePadLink%20SigCaptureWeb%20SDK%20Extension?utm_source=ext_app_menu).
  2. Click **ePadLink SigCaptureWeb SDK Extension** and **Add to Chrome** to add and enable the extension so Frameworks can use it.

> ℹ️ **For Microsoft Edge**: Visit the same link and enable **Allow extensions from other stores** when prompted.

> ⚠️ **Important**: Ensure you have local administrator privileges to install these components.

## 2. Test Signature Pad Installation

Once the necessary components are installed, you should test the setup to ensure everything is functioning properly.

1. Visit the following link to run the signature pad test: [ePad Support - Web Signature Capture Test](http://www.epadsupport.com/sign_chrome_ff_sigcapturewebsdk/sign_chrome_ff_sigcapturewebsdk.html).
2. Follow the instructions on the page to verify that the signature pad works correctly. This utility checks that the software and plugins from steps 1-3 are correctly installed and that the ePad can capture the signature through the web browser.

If the software isn't installed correctly or a component is missing, the Web Signature Capture Test will show an error. Please review the previous steps. If the issue continues, contact [support](https://kb.myframeworks.com.au/page/support).
