Once a product with product surcharges defined has been selected, depending on the type of surcharge defined, one of 2 things will happen.
> ℹ️ Surcharges are applied on top of any existing discounts. For example, volume discounts & contract prices etc are applied prior to surcharges.
### 1. Length Surcharges
Length Surcharges will be automatically applied to the tally lengths that have surcharges defined. If multiple lengths have been added to an order and they have different surcharges then each product, with matching surcharges, will be added as individual product lines on your order.
### 2. Other Surcharges
Once a product with product surcharges defined has been selected, the **Additional Information Required** screen is displayed:
1. In the **Select **column enabled the surcharge/s you are required to apply to the product.

**Code**
Displays the user-defined code to identify the surcharge.

**Name **
The name of the product surcharge.

**Description **
The description of the product surcharge.
---
**Sell **
The product surcharge Unit Sell price to be charged in addition to the selected product's current Unit Price.

**Cost **
The product surcharge cost added to the selected product's current Unit Cost.
---
**Perc **
The product surcharge percentage of the product's Unit Price to be charged as an addition to the selected product's current Unit price.

**Each **
Displays the value of the Each field for a tally surcharge. For tally products, there are two ways of calculating surcharges:
- If enabled, the **Each** calculation is used.
- If not enabled, the **Not Each** calculation is used.

> ⚠️ A surcharge **must **be applied to the product before it is added to the order. A maximum of 4 product surcharges can be selected per product transaction.
Calculation example if multiple surcharges are selected:
**Calculating Sell Surcharges**
If there is a percentage surcharge (**Rate %** field) and a unit sell price surcharge (**Unit Sell** field) then both will be applied. The percentage surcharges are calculated first, followed by the sell price surcharges.
> **Example**
>
> Sell Price before surcharge = $20
>
> Percentage Surcharge 1 = 10%
>
> Percentage Surcharge 2 = 10%
>
> **Sub-total of Percentage Surcharges = 20% = $4**
>
> Unit Sell Surcharge 1 = $10
>
> Unit Sell Surcharge 2 = $5
>
> **Sub-total of Sell Price Surcharges =** **$15**
>
> **Grand total =** **$20 **(Sell Price before surcharge)** + $4 **(Sub-total of Percentage Surcharges)** + $15 **(Sub-total of Sell Price Surcharges)** = $39**

**Calculating Cost Surcharges**
Cost surcharges are accumulated then added to the Cost price.
> **Example**
>
> Cost before surcharge = $10
>
> Unit Cost Surcharge 1 = $2
>
> Unit Cost Surcharge 2 = $3
>
> **Sub-total of Cost Surcharges = $5**
>
> **Grand total = $10** (Cost before surcharge) **+ $5 **(Sub-total of Cost Surcharges)** = $15**

2. Click **Save/Close **to apply the surcharge to the product.
> 📝 Once the surcharge/s have been applied, they are displayed underneath the product description.
3. Click > Macro (inline-media-image)
to change the applied surcharge/s, **before** the product has been added to the order.
> ℹ️ To edit/update any product surcharges which have been added to an order, you first must **delete **the product line from the sale then re-add the product to the transaction and re-apply the new product surcharges.
4. Press **** or click the **Check** icon to add the product to the order.
> ⚠️ You will see a **warning **icon if a surcharge has **not **been applied to the product and you will not be able to add the product to the order until a surcharge is applied.
