Use manual card entry when the PIN pad cannot read the card's magnetic strip.

> 📝 ## Prerequisites
> 📝
> 📝 - The customer has a payment card that cannot be read by the PIN pad magnetic strip reader.
> 📝 - The bank accepts manual entry for the card type being used.
> 📝 - The customer is present with the physical card.

## Steps

1. Press the Black **FUNCTION** key on the PIN pad.
2. The PIN pad prompts the customer to enter the card number. The customer enters the card number using the PIN pad keypad and presses **Enter**.
3. The PIN pad prompts for the card expiry date. The customer enters the expiry date using the PIN pad keypad and presses **Enter**.
4. The Point of Sale screen prints a receipt for signature verification. The customer signs the receipt.
5. Verify the customer's signature matches the signature on the card.

## Result

The manual card payment is processed and the transaction is completed. The signed receipt serves as verification of the payment.

## Common Errors

If the manual card entry fails, the PIN pad may display one of the following error messages:

**Card Number Invalid**

- The card number entered is incorrect or incomplete.
- Ask the customer to re-enter the card number carefully.
- Verify all digits are entered correctly.

**Invalid Expiry Date**

- The expiry date entered is incorrect, incomplete, or the card has expired.
- Ask the customer to re-enter the expiry date in the correct format.
- Check the physical card for the correct expiry date.

**Card Not Accepted**

- Manual card entry is not supported for this card type.
- The bank does not accept manually entered transactions for this card.
- Ask the customer for an alternative payment method.

**Card Must Be Swiped**

- The card type requires magnetic strip reading and cannot be entered manually.
- Attempt to swipe the card again using the magnetic strip reader.
- If the card still cannot be read, ask the customer for an alternative payment method.
