# Overview

Attachments can be added in various sections within Frameworks. Attachment allows you to store important files within your database so that information can be easily recovered when you need it.

# Navigating the Attachments Window

The **Attachments** window has six main sections:

## 1. Attachment location information

The window title shows which record or transaction the files are attached to. For example, “Attachment for *customer - 50142*” means the attachment is linked to a customer record.

## 2. List of attached files

This section displays all attachments for the record or transaction. For each attachment, you see:

- The description
- The date it was added
- The user ID of the person who uploaded it
- The file name

## 3. Preview of the selected attachment

If the attachment is a PDF or image, a preview appears. For other file types, you see an icon.

## 4. Upload and download buttons

- Click **Upload** to open the **File Upload** window and add files.
- Click **Download** to save the selected file to your computer.

## 5. Attachment maintenance

You can update the attachment’s **Description** and mark it as **Secure** (only visible to users with secure attachment access).

## 6. Close button

Click **Close** to exit the Attachments window.

# Opening Attachments

To open an attachment:

1. Click **Upload** or the **Attachments** menu item to open the **Attachments** window.
2. Click the **Paper Clip** icon if files are already attached to the record or transaction.
3. In the **Attachments** window, select an attachment to preview it.
4. Click **Download** in the bottom left to save the file.

# Adding Attachments

To add an attachment:

1. Click **Upload** or the **Attachments** menu item to open the **Attachments** window.
2. In the bottom left, click **Upload** to open the **File Upload** window.

> ℹ️ If no attachments have been added, then the **File upload **window will be displayed upon opening the attachments window.

3. In the **File Upload** window:
  - Click **Browse** to find a file on your computer, or drag and drop the file into the dotted area.
  - The **File Name** field shows the file you selected.
  - Click **Upload** to add the file.

4. After uploading, you can:
  - Update the **Description** to make the attachment easier to find.
  - Mark the attachment as **Secure** if needed.
  - These details save automatically.

> ℹ️ If you upload a PDF or image, you can preview it in the window.

6. Once attached, you can upload another attachment or close the window.

# Deleting Attachments

To remove an attachment:

1. In the **Attachments** window, select the attachment you want to delete.
2. Click **Remove**.
3. Click **Yes** to confirm deletion.
