## Overview

Using **Pack Handling (Mobile)** you can dock lengths from one pack and create multiple new packs containing the end sections that have been cut from the existing pack.

> ⚠️ **IMPORTANT:** To dock a pack, it must have a status of In Stock.

Pack docking does not move packs between branches, adjust costs, or create stock adjustments. There are no general ledger posts when packs are docked and no adjustment to average cost by length.

## Dock a Pack from a Handheld Device

To dock a timber pack from your mobile handheld device:

1. Press the **Frameworks Menu** button in the top left of the **Home** screen and navigate to **Inventory > Pack Handling (Mobile)**.
2. In the **Pack Number** field, scan or enter the pack number and press **Find**. Alternatively, press the search icon to open the **Pack Finder** window.
3. Press **Dock Pack** to open the **Dock Pack** screen.

> ⚠️ When you press **Dock Pack**, the following validation checks are performed:
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ - The pack status is **In Stock** at the session branch
> ⚠️ - The pack contains only one product
> ⚠️ - The pack contains only one length
> ⚠️ - The pack is not on consignment

If the pack fails these checks, an error message will be displayed.

4. In the **Dock Pack** screen, you will see the **Product Code**, the number of **Pieces** and the **length** of those pieces contained in the existing pack.
  1. Press **Add** to create each pack that is being docked (cut) from the existing pack.
  2. For each pack, enter a **Pack No** (this defaults to the next available pack number) and the **length** to be docked from the existing pack.
The sum of the created pack lengths must match the total length of the existing pack product. A running total for the new pack lengths is displayed to help you track this.
5. Press **Save** to dock the pack.

The original timber pack status is now updated to **Used**. Press **Reinstate Pack** to recreate the pack and update the status from **Used** back to **In Stock**.
