Import GL allocation lines into an expense invoice by pasting data from a spreadsheet or text file into the Invoice Allocation grid.

> 📝 ## Prerequisites
> 📝
> 📝 - An expense invoice has been created with the supplier, invoice number, date and amount entered (see [Create a Supplier Expense Invoice](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/fwksproau/pages/30524458)).
> 📝 - Your import data is prepared in a delimited format (tab, comma, pipe or semicolon) with columns matching the Invoice Allocation grid fields.
> 📝 - Access to [Expense Invoice Entry](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FRAM/pages/28404012) screen.

## Steps

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu** and navigate to **Payables > Transaction Processing > Expense Invoice Entry**.
2. Click **New** to create a new expense invoice, or click an existing **Invoice** hyperlink in the results grid. Enter or confirm the supplier and invoice header fields.
3. Right-click in the Invoice Allocation grid and select **Import Data > Paste Data into Grid** to open the **Import Data** window.
4. In the **Data** field, paste the allocation data from your spreadsheet or text file.
5. Configure the import settings:
  - **Delimiter:** Select the delimiter that matches your data format (Tab, Comma, Pipe or Semicolon).
  - **Method:** Select how the import handles existing data. **Insert** adds new lines. **Replace** clears existing lines and adds the imported data. **Update** updates existing lines with matching data.
  - **My Data has headings:** Enable this checkbox if the first row contains column headers. Frameworks uses the headers to map data to the correct fields and excludes the header row from the import.
6. Click **Verify** to validate the import data. If a red warning icon appears, click the icon to view the issues, correct the data and verify again.
7. Click **Import** to import the allocation lines into the Invoice Allocation grid. Review the imported data to confirm it has imported correctly.

## Result

The GL allocation lines from your import data are added to the Invoice Allocation grid. The **Amount to Allocate** field in the invoice header updates to reflect the imported allocations.

After importing, save the invoice by clicking **Save** or post the invoice by clicking **Post** if the **Amount to Allocate** equals $0.00. Refer to Enter a Supplier Expense Invoice for details on saving and posting.

## Additional Notes

- In a single-company environment, the **Company** column automatically populates with your company if a value is not included in the import data.
- The import function populates the Invoice Allocation grid only. The invoice header fields (supplier, invoice number, date, amount) must be entered manually before or after importing allocation lines.
