Create a stock adjustment to increase or decrease stock on hand quantities for one or more products at a branch.

> 📝 ## Prerequisites
> 📝
> 📝 - Access to the **Stock Adjustments** screen.
> 📝 - Stock adjustment reason codes are configured in **System Administration > System Setup > Inventory > Stock Adjustment Reason Codes**.
> 📝 - If the adjustment requires a separate approver, the approving user must have the **Approve Stock Adjustment** user flag enabled in **User Maintenance**.
> 📝 - If adjusting stock by location, the **LOC** feature code is active and **Stock By Location** and **Multiple Fixed Locations** are enabled for the branch.

## Steps

1. Click the **Frameworks Menu** and navigate to **Inventory > Transaction Processing > Stock Adjustments**.
2. Click **New** to create a stock adjustment.
3. In the **Stock Adjustments Header** section, complete the following fields:
  - **Branch:** Select the branch for the adjustment.
  - **Reason:** Select the relevant reason code.
  - **Assignee:** (Optional) Enter or search for the user assigned to approve and process the stock adjustment.
4. Click **Add** to add a product line. In the **Product** field, enter the product code, scan the barcode or search for the product.
5. In the **Qty** field, enter the quantity to adjust. Enter a positive value to increase stock on hand (for example, **10** increases stock by 10) or a negative value to decrease stock on hand (for example, **-10** reduces stock by 10). The **New SOH** value updates automatically.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each product that requires adjustment.
7. Click **Approve** to submit the adjustment for approval. In the **Approve Adjustment** window, enter the approving user's credentials and click **Save/Close**.
8. Click **Process** to finalise the adjustment.

> ℹ️ **Stock location adjustments:** When the **LOC** feature is active, the **Location** field displays the product's primary location. Enter or search for a different stock location if the adjustment applies to a specific location. The **Current Locn SOH** and **New Locn SOH** fields show the stock on hand at the selected location before and after the adjustment.

## Result

The stock on hand quantities are updated for the adjusted products. Corresponding GL movements are posted to the general ledger. The stock adjustment record status changes to **Processed** and cannot be edited.

If the adjustment was assigned to another user for approval, the adjustment is saved with a status of **Queued** until the assigned user approves and processes the adjustment (see Approve a Stock Adjustment).

## Additional Notes

The following system settings affect stock adjustment behaviour:

- **InvStkNaAl**: When enabled, allows narration override on stock adjustment reason codes.
- [FWStkAdjDefGL](https://sterlandsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FSS/pages/13173921): When enabled, uses the Stocktake Adjustment Account for stock adjustments instead of the standard adjustment account.
