Use this procedure to duplicate an existing journal entry as a new draft journal. This is useful when creating similar journal entries with different details.

> 📝 ## Prerequisites
> 📝
> 📝 - Access to the Journal Entry screen in General Ledger
> 📝 - An existing journal entry to copy from

## Steps

1. Navigate to **General Ledger > Transaction Processing > Journal Entry**.
2. In the **Journal No.** field, enter part or all of the journal number to search for, or use the **Date From/To** or **Narration** fields to refine the search.
3. Click **Find** to display search results.
4. Click the relevant journal hyperlink to load the journal entry details.
5. Click **Copy** to duplicate the journal.

6. In the **Narration** field, edit the description to distinguish this journal from the original.
7. Click **Save** to save the copied journal as a draft.

> ⚠️ The copied journal remains in draft status until you post it.

## Result

The system creates a new draft journal entry with the same details as the original journal. The new journal receives a new journal number and the **Standing Journal** checkbox is automatically cleared (if the original was a standing journal).
